Last Wednesday, we were guests at Canon in Poing with the Climate Alliance Ebersberg-Munich. Together with around 60 entrepreneurs, we found out how Canon has made the Poing site fit for the challenges of a climate-friendly future.
‘Climate protection and the energy transition are important, highly topical issues, even if they have been somewhat neglected in political discussions recently,’ said Poing’s mayor Thomas Stark, making a clear appeal at the opening of the network meeting. Afterwards, the participants were given a tour of the company, which included impressive best-practice examples, such as the large solar system on the roof or the heating and ventilation system in the basement. For Harald Metzger, Lead Energy & Projects at Canon, it is particularly important that climate protection and species protection go hand in hand. At Canon, this is achieved, for example, by flowering meadows and bee colonies on the company premises.
After the tour, the participants were able to attend various break-out sessions, where practical solutions for their own work were developed through a moderated exchange. The topics ranged from applying for funding to scope 3 materiality analysis.
